Did you know that at 8,848 metres Everest is the highest mountain in the world, but measured from top to bottom, below sea level, Mauna Kea (an inactive volcano on the island of Hawaii) beats Everest by more than 1000 metres?

Did you know that the River Nile is the longest river in the world?  It measures 6,695 kilometres from its source in Burundi, along the White Nile, to its delta on the Mediterranean Sea.  Officially, the shortest river is the D River, Oregan, USA, which is just 37 metres long.
