Good Practice

Good citizens understand that age is not a barrier - young and old can work together and learn from each other. Speak to someone you know who lived during World War 2.  What was life like for them?  The websites below will also give you information.

Children of World War 2 — a wonderful site if you are wanting to find out how the Second World War affected children's lives. There is information on rationing, letters from evacuees and you can explore a wartime home. View a super collection of wartime posters too.

What was life like in the Second World War?  What did people wear?  What did they eat?  What was it like for children?  You’ll find answers to these questions and more in this great site.

High quality interactive activities to help you understand some of the aspects of life in wartime Britain such as rationing, evacuation, the role of women and gas masks. There are photographs and video clips of people sharing their experiences.
